I recently moved into a new apartment and I learned that I may be a Category 5 hoarder. No, no, I don’t have junk sitting in my living room taking up space like people on the TV show “Hoarders.” I mean, I am the definition of sentimental. I have a tendency to save, well, everything. My old apartment had so many boxes of cards, letters, gifts and stuffed animals it was ridiculous. I found things that were more than 14 years old!
At work today I met with someone from our IT department to archive some of the emails I’ve been hoarding since 2008. #DontJudgeMe I have a folder for everything and I find it hard to delete things that I might need. Clearly, this is a challenge for me.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: LET IT GO
Learn from me and don’t be a hoarder! More importantly, it’s time for all of us to do some spring cleaning! What are you holding onto that you should have let go of last week? Last month? Last year? The hours in the day tend to fly by so fast that we don’t reevaluate our lives. We hold onto grudges and self-doubt. We hold onto friends who don’t elevate us. We hate on others making moves. We wonder ‘What if?’ Time is flying by and holding on to the past won’t benefit your future.
I know we’re only four months into 2012, but so far I’ve learned that the more I let go of, the more I have room for. Ha! How simple is that? Step out on faith and do something extraordinary. Let go of pride and learn to love. Open your heart and mind to something or someone new. But first, LET GO!
