About Shannon Cross

Shannon Cross is an Emmy-nominated associate editor for ESPN.com, developing content for ESPN.com’s special feature pages, including ESPN Films, First Take, Sport Science and the annual ESPY awards. She also ghost writes online content for ESPN’s on-air analysts. Cross made her on-air debut as a social media correspondent for ESPN’s live-broadcast National Town Hall Meeting in 2011 in Atlanta. She followed up in the same on-air role during ESPN’s live coverage of the 2011 NCAA Women’s Final Four basketball tournament. Cross also worked as in-studio talent during wrap-up coverage of the 2011 NCAA Women’s College World Series. 

Cross’ early work in broadcasting spanned on-air and behind-the-scenes roles at major outlets. She began her career as a news assistant at WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, N.C., in 2004. She has also produced for WCCB-TV in Charlotte and WFSB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Hartford, Conn. She worked as a reporter at WQUN-AM in New Haven, Conn.

 A native of Seattle, Cross graduated from Johnson C. Smith University where she played on the tennis team, became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta and earned a bachelor of arts in communications.
